CHRISTMAS. December 25, 2006 11:50 am
I wish I was in New York right now =) It's one of those things that I would put on my "20 Things I Want To Do Before I Turn 50" lists - Go to New York for Christmas". All the lights, shopping, and oodles of Christmas spirit all around! |
SITTING STILL. December 12, 2006 5:25 pm I want to turn on my Christmas lights and sit in the living room admiring the beauty of it. I want to sit by the window of a local cafe and watch the people pass by. I want to take a walk around the neighbourhood, and come back home to a nice cup of hot chocolate. I don't want to think anymore. |
LIES. December 8, 2006 7:27pm So why is it that sometimes your mind says "no" but your heart says "yes"? It's funny how our heart and mind don't relate to one another sometimes. Wanting something you can't have, or realizing your life is not predicted by a crystal ball just makes it all the more complicated. The issue really is, when do you know to let go and when do know not to? You lose control of your feelings, you let love blind you, and in the end you get hurt. So what do we do? We think really hard for a solution and plan to stick to it. One problem though, our heart decides to take over. A part of us that we can't control no matter what our mind wants us to do. We start playing tricks on ourselves. We end up living a lie that will never be fulfilled. In the end you realize, its not worth any more of your time, tears, and sadness. It's just not meant to be. |
DO OR DIE. December 5 , 2006 11:46 am I miss blogging here. I should blog more often. =) Finals are coming up ><. In total I have four finals, 8th, 15th, 18th, and 21st. I should be very happy since last term I had 8! I seriously don't know how I did it. This term should be a lot easier right? Well...no, not really since Organic Chemistry is $%$^%! And the most exciting part of that final is that it's worth 75% of my final mark. Oh god. I should be worried. Other than school taking over my life once again, time for some real updates: * After a long painful journey for a coop job, I finally recieved a job offer at the School of Optometry at University of Waterloo for my Jan-April work term! =) Interviews were nerve-racking, formal clothes are so not my style, fake smiles and intense eye contact included. I also was offered a job in Ottawa, it was hard to turn it down since it was an awesome position, working with the latest technology, but there was too little time to figure out everything. I opted to stay at home, where I will be dissecting eyeballs for the study of retina and the lens. But really, I feel happy that I have a job, and I won't be bumming around for 4 months =) * I recently (well...not really) bought a sexy black laptop with support from my dear sister. =) I love it to pieces. |
C'EST LA VIE. September 30, 2006 11:50 am I've been so busy with school lately, my mind is going in a million directions at the same time. Again, reconsidering my program - which is nothing new. Co-op isn't going so well, because I'm going against upper year students with previous experience and most jobs there were 100 applicants with only one opening for the job. What are the chances they're going pick an unexperienced junior co-op student like me? Very slim chance. "Everyone finds something in the end." is what my friend keeps telling me. First week of school started out great. I was on top of things, I reviewed my notes after class, and I was being a proactive learner. The second weekend of school I went camping at Bon Echo. It was very very different. Especially when I started comparing my NY trip living in a gorgeous apartment, and the tent I was sleeping in. We went canoeing, hiking, and sat by the campfire eating smores =). Other than the cold showers with the moths, the chances of a bear attacking me, and the pitch black nights, camping was not bad. I loved the experience and would probably do it again =D Here I am, third weekend of school, behind in all 5 of my courses, haven't reviewed a single note since the second week of school, and a midterm on Friday. Someone save me now ><! |
AUTUMN. August 27, 2006 10:10 am It feels like autumn is already here. With all the back to school vibe around us and the cool windy breeze that I miss so much. School will definitely be a little hectic for me this coming semester. With 4 Chems, 1 Bio, 3 labs, and a coop course, who wouldn't be freaked out? I bought a couple of my textbooks yesterday and haven't dared take a peek yet ><. I'm slightly excited and scared at the same time. How come I feel like it's first year again? Maybe because I'm ready to alter a few ways to manage my time, and as well as some of my studying methods. It's what I thought to myself while coming into first year. Life's all about experimenting =) My weekend started out pretty awesome. A night that was suppose to be for an asian night market turned out into a 3 hour karaoke night =D Ashley, Amy, and I sang (or shout) until our throats were all scratchy and coarse. Singing is so much fun hehe. The following day I went to buy my textbooks. It felt so good to step onto campus again because I haven't been back since end of April. Seems like such a loooong time ago. I remembered all the times walking around campus scrambling to get to the next class with herds of people walking towards and away from me. Afterwards we went to visit my little sow ju!! Leaving us for Ryerson T_T It makes me think how all the friends I've grown up and changed. Everyone has matured, yet keeping to their true selves. And most importantly, I'm so glad we're still together. I just hope autumn doesn't change things too much, because I can't really say that I'll be ready for it. |
NEW LAYOUT & NYC. August 14, 2006 8:17 pm NEW LAYOUT! =D I was super excited to get this up, because
I was really getting sick of my last layout. =p *** So I was back from NYC quite a while back but never had the chance to post how it went. This post is more for my own purposes of remembering my trip but if you'll like to hear what happened during my trip please feel welcome, just note that this is a long post so get comfy =p *** Ashley and I were already excited for it the week before we were planned to leave. The moment we went to buy our bus tickets, my mood went sky high. Which was not the best thing because I had an exam to study for before I left for NY. I couldn't resist packing everything I needed inbetween my "study breaks". Ashley came over to sleepover the day before we were going to leave where she found a black squishy raisin under my nighttable. The sad part is I don't remember the last time I ate raisins >< ("No wonder Jenny complains about ants" -Jacky lol!) Not quite what we were looking for, but very very hilarious =D We woke up at 4:30 am to catch our bus and ended up taking some really ugly pictures o_O Maybe the whole beauty sleep talk is true lol. The bus ride took about 13 hours, during which I felt like a puddle of mud. My neck and butt was sore, my taste felt like it was gone, I felt so blah. Arrived in NY Grand Central Terminal at around 7 pm where we encountered erm...really interesting people! The first look out the window of the terminal, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was just as I imagined NYC, yellow taxis, busy streets, people who were dressed chic, and huge billboards. I was in complete awe. Ashley's uncle picked us up for dinner, where I had baby dumplings and of course Ashley opted for something spicy =p. In return she got her "hot sore" hehe. (I was going to make up a juicy story of how she got her "hot sore" but I won't be mean =p) After dinner we found out that we were living in Trump Palace. TRUMP PALACE! I couldn't believeee it. The apartment was amazing. Simplistic yet cozy. Makes my dream of owning a condo one day even more realistic. I wanted to scream and jump around the whole apartment =D. There was a lady who currently resides there but she was on a vacation, which made it all ours for the whole week. It's not a surprise that a gorgeous apartment like that comes with a rich owner. Chanel products, Marc Jacob handbags, things I couldn't definitely not afford. First day of NY we explored the streets passing by designer brands that we knew we would feel soooo poor if we walked in. Walking was exhausting because of the heat wave, so when we reached our first air conditioned place, I felt like I was in heaven. Somehow later we found out that we walked from east to west passing Central Park and reached Columbus Circle. o_O We had to most delicious lunch ever, with our pesto tomato grilled sandwich, tofu rolls, and mango coconut cheesecake =D. We decided to travel down to Chinatown by subway, walked down a strip to what seemed like Chinatown and quicky got exhausted from the heat. Later we stopped by Ashley's aunt's office where we cooled down and drank who knows how much water XD Then came dinner, where I ate the most bittermelon I've had in my life and we had a "facial" back at the apartment where we took some really scary pictures hehe. My money spending kind of got out of control the first day and I ended up spending 1/4 of my money. I still had like 5 more days to go! eek! Second day we headed to Macy's and Manhattan Mall where we finalllly saw clothes around our price range! Go us! hehe Macy's was HUGE, I already knew what I want someday when I walked in - Vera Wang Princess perfume. It smelled reeeally good. I recieved an awkward mini facial from Biotherm and mini makeover. Apparently I have a babyface and I don't need makeup =D (yeah right, have you seen my black circles?!) Manhatten Mall where I found cheap small diamond studs. $2.99! I also purchased a skirt and saw an Uglydoll keychain I wanted (Alex, Bop n' Beep!! =D) . Somehow we ended spending a day here and got back to the apartment to relax. Third day we went to Times Square. It was the ultimate place I wanted to go to for this trip. The most colourful and busiest streets I've ever seen so far. A place where it didn't matter that we looked like tourists ^^. We purchased postcards, jewellery from the Sanrio store, charms to make a unique necklace for ourselves, and clothes at a store we must've spent 2 hours in o_O. I even saw a Pooky TY doll at one of the stores that I wish I kinda bought now =/. During dinner I set my eyes on a cute asian waiter who could amazingly stack a tower of dishes. "HO MAN AH!" lol And of course I can't forget the a waiter that Ashley claims looked like a giraffe and another one that looked like a sleepy panda. =D Fourth day I was excited to see my favorite store - AE. Ashley asked a shopper where it was and he said it was at Macy's and there was a two storey AE at Union Square. It was not at Macys (LIAR!) but good thing he didn't lie about Union Square. So that's where we headed, busy streets like always and shops galore, and of course we found my AE where I bought my "Sharing is caring, and caring is love" t-shirt =) Afterwards, we went back to Times Square to buy our broadway tickets to see Beauty and the Beast. We decided to eat before the show and sat down at the worst restaurant ever ><. Expensive and not yummy at all. I ordered a swiss sandwich seeing that it was the cheapest thing on the menu $11. The sandwich was literally consisted of slices of cheese that were 10 cm in height and two slices of bread. GROSS! Anyways, Beauty and the Beast - OMGOODNESS if you ever get a chance to go see it, go see it!! I didn't expect to see anything like what I saw, I loved every part of it, the sets, the costumes, the actors, the songs, the storyline. I almost cried at the end even though I knew the storyline very well. Everything was just so beautiful =) Last day we went to Chinatown and I saw lots that I liked. But I was down to $50. If I was there the first day, hmm...let's not think what would've happened. I saw what looked like a flying pea poster and walked into the store. There were glass jars with a green round object floating around. Ashley thought it was a moldy pea, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever! After ranting on how I wanted a moldy pea, the store owner told us it was algae. "ALGAE? COOL, I want algae!!" After finding that a puny keychain with one ball of algae in it was $15, I was devasted -_-" Hopefully my algae will arrive at pmall one day =| hehe When we got back to the apartment we celebrated by taking crazy pictures of ourselves with our new scarves, a rugby scheme, and crazy high ponytails. It was our last day in NYC afterall! Ashley stayed up all night while I had some shut-eye. Woke up during my sleep to the sounds of Rose in Titanic constantly saying "Wake up, wake up, wake up" =_= ASHLEY! lol Woke up at 3:30 am to board the bus nice and early and the ride home was a lot faster since we slept the whole way through. My taste was lost again due to some tasteless wheaties (yes they were tasteless Ashley!). Which is what we had for the whole 13 hours. Once I got back home I had what seemed like the yummiest dinner ever =9 I got my taste back!! Of course, there are still lots more that that happened during the trip,
but I they'll probably come back to me later lol. I'm so glad I spent
this trip with my bestest friend ever, without her this mini vacation
wouldn't have been so awesome *tears* haha Pictures!!! Some of the many crazy pictures we took =D |
